Hello Readers!
March 1st is here, which means it's time to celebrate Reading Month. This year the Tappan ELA department is partnering with the Tappan Library Media Center to bring you a month of amazing reading opportunities. To make this month become more successful than ever we would like to invite you and your students to participate in as many of the following opportunities as possible.

Reading Month Opportunities:
1. Book Drive--Let the competition begin! Encourage your advisory to bring in slightly loved books to class. The Advisories at each grade level that collect the most books will earn an ice cream party. Books may only be collected March 11-15th.
3. DEAR--We are offering Drop Everything and Read time for any teacher and class who would like to participate. These will take place on the following dates and times so anyone participating can plan ahead of time:
- March 1 th -- 2nd Hour @ 9:15am
- March 8 th -- 7th Hour @ 2:15pm
- March 20 th - -3rd Hour @ 10:15am
4. Author visits: Tappan Library will be hosting not one, but TWO author visits in celebration of reading month. The first author is Dr. Jorge Cham, author of of the graphic novel Oliver's Great Big Universe. The second is local author Sondra Soderborg, who wrote Sky Ropes.
